Just the Dark Before the Morning: Another Emergency Room Visit

Good news and bad news.

Good:
I had another ultrasound Sunday and saw a heartbeat of 120bpm.

Bad:
I had it in the emergency room for the second weekend in a row.

Worse:
The baby's sac has torn away from my uterus around the edges and it is causing very significant amounts of blood. This can repair itself or it can continue tearing, causing a miscarriage.

From what I've been told there's nothing we can do except pray and wait.
We'd appreciate your help with both.
Will keep you updated.

IVF #1 and IVF#2

3.27.10 - Begin Greens+ and Co Q-10 and acupuncture consultation 3 hours per week for 3 months
4.1.10 - Begin acupuncture, Angelica, L-Carnitine, Folinic Acid, and Royal Jelly (This was 31 pills per day total)
5.7.10 - CD3 bloodwork. FSH 4.2, E2 48

5.17.10 - Saline ultrasound & uterine measurements for transfer. Also diagnosed with bronchitis, begin Z-Pak.
5.18.10 - stop birth control and switch to Estradiol pills instead for estrogen priming
5.28.10 - Begin baby aspirin, dexamethasone
6.4.10 - Begin taking Provera twice a day for four days

6.8.10 - Stop Estradiol and provera pills, will begin period shortly
6.9.10 - Suppression appointment, order meds
6.11.10 - Begin lupron injections (10iu), started period
6.13.10 - Begin Menopur (3 vials), Gonal-f (10iu) and low dose HCG(10iu)
6.15.10 - Bloodwork, E2 is 285 & lower Menopur to 2 vials
6.18.10 - Bloodwork, scan at 9:30AM, period ends, E2 is 1,074. Right: 13x10, 14x13, 12x10, 7x5, 16x16 and one more could not be measured Left: 12x11, 11x11, 15x13
6.21.10 - Bloodwork, scan at 8AM: Right:*22x20, 13x10, *21x14, 16x11,*18x17, 13x7, *22x20 and Left: 16x20, 14x12, *20x17, told by nurse we'd probably have 5 eggs just like IVF#1; acupuncture at 10:50, take last dexamethasone at bedtime, begin Dulcolax 2x per day
6.22.10 - 10:10 AM acupuncture, pre-register at hospital ($1,000.00) and anesthesia department ($400.00) for retrieval, Mom flies in

6.23.10 - Retrieval, do not take aspirin or prenatal today; 7 eggs retrieved, 6 are mature
6.24.10 - Resume daily aspirin and prenatal, First embryo report; 5 fertilized normally

6.25.10 - 5 embryos still dividing normally; morning acupuncture; Begin Endometrin 3xday, begin 16mg Medrol at bedtime for 4 nights, Begin z-pak, Begin Lovenox in abdomen 1x per day. Continue through at least 10 wks of pregnancy, Begin extra calcium and Vitamin D.

6.26.10 - Day 3 embryo report: All 5 embryos are on track at 6-8 cells

6.27.10 - Day 4 embryo report: 4 embryos growing; one arrested

6.28. 10 - Transfer Day: Transfer 2 blasts, looking like the other 2 cannot be frozen. 9AM acupuncture, 11AM valium, and 11:15 Embryo transfer. Continue daily aspirin until 20 weeks of pregnancy and prenatal indefinitely. Last Medrol tonight

6.29.10 - Find out for sure that none will be frozen

6.30.10 - Cry all day
7.1.10 - Turn 33 years old; cry all day again

7.2.10 - Enjoy last day with mom in KC

7.3.10 - Mom flies home
7.6.10 - BFP! - Beta #1 is 74 (8dp5dt)

7.8.10 - Beta #2 is 177 (10dp5dt)
7.12.10 - Beta #3 is 768 (14dp5dt)

7.15.10 - Beta #4 is 3,652 (17dp5dt)

7.17.10 - Beta #5 is 9,033 (19dp5dt) and emergency room visit. Discovered we lost one baby at 5w3d but u/s shows one gestational sac and yolk sac remaining.

7.19.10 - Beta #6 is 10,488 (21dp5dt) Nurse says this very small increase could be due to losing one twin.

7.21.10 - Beta #7 is 17, 020 (23dp5dt) Great news! Our miracle baby is alive and well! These numbers are confirmation that we had lost a twin at our emergency room visit.

7.23.10 - U/S @ 6w2d shows one heartbeat at 113bpm!

7.25.10 - ER visit again. This visit found sacs of perigestational bleeding. The bleeding areas repaired themselves.

7.26.10 - 8.1.10 - Red, brown and pink spotting with light cramping

8.4.10 - Graduation from RE at 8w0d. U/s showed baby measuring on track at 1.47cm and heartrate 170bpm.

8.5.10 - 1st OB appointment

7.09 - Research, read, find new RE

10.14.09 - New RE Consultation (love her!)
10.28.09 - Insurance will cover surgery

11.2.09 - Removed tube through LAP and removed uterine polyps through lighted scope

11.3.09 - Begin prenatal vitamin, continue BC
11.18.09 - Stop BC for 5 days for blood draw on 23rd
11.23.09- Surgery follow up, blood draw
FSH - 7
E2 - 44
11.30.09 - Pickup Z Pak, dexamethasone, low-ogestrel and EMLA cream from Walgreens
12.7.09 - Lupron kit arrived at our front door.
12.15.09 - Switch birth control to low ogestrel and begin 5 days of Z Pak
12.30.09 - Begin 10 units of Lupron, Begin baby aspirin through 20 weeks of pregnancy, Begin dexamethasone through stimming
1.4.10 - Stop birth control

1.7.10 - 10AM suppression appointment, E2 is 33, paid for IVF

1.8.10 - New phase of meds arrives at home via FedEx

1.10.10 - Begin stimulation phase (Morning - 225 u of Gonal-f, At Night - 225 u of Gonal-f +10 u Lupron + 10 u of HCG)

1.12.10 - AM blood draw, E2 is 344. Decrease Gonal-f from 225 down to 150 units
1.13.10 - Urologist appointment about TESE...ouch.

1.15.10 - AM blood draw and scan: Lining 7.2; Right side 17, 14, 13, 10; Left side 25, 15, 14, 14, 8

Gonal-f dosage upped to 260 units, Ordered endometrin

1.18.10 - AM blood draw and scan: E2 is 3031.

Right side 23, 15 ,21, 20; Left side 29, 21, 20, 19 ,19, 11

Trigger tonight!

1.20.10 - Egg retrieval and DH's TESE

1.21.10 - 5 mature eggs retrieved, all 5 ICSI, 4 fertilized

1.22.10 - Begin Endometrin 3 x day, begin z-pak, begin medrol for 4 days, Second fertilization report: 3 embryos at 4 cell, 1 embryo at 6 cell

1.25.10 - Transfer Day: transferred two blasts

1.26.10 - One snow baby saved for us!

1.30.10 - POAS @ 5dp5dt, result was negative. So was my attitude.

1.31.10 - Close family death. Meltdown ensues. Ask RE for permission to take beta one day early.

2.1.10 -

Need to fly home for funeral.

Take official beta one day early.

It's negative.

Second meltdown ensues.

A few hours later husband calls from work and has booked two tickets to Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

We're leaving in 4 days.

The man is a keeper.

We have 3 babies in heaven.

3.24.10 - Post IVF Consult - Diagnosed with DOR, Diminished Ovarian Reserve/Poor Egg Quality. Begin working on calendar for IVF #2 coming summer 2010.
