This blog is about a 33 and 43 year old who became pregnant after two IVF cycles. We made many protocol and lifestyle changes with our second IVF you can read about on the sidebar. While we are basking in the hope of meeting our baby, our feet are planted firmly on infertile ground. Through surgeries, a DOR diagnosis, losing six embryos, and the miscarriage of a twin... if your life is still revolving around vials and needles... we hope to share our success story with you.

Follie Counting: IVF #2

Thank you for making the switch to our new blog. It seems silly, I know, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and I needed a change in the most serious way.  If this is your first time here, please read the previous post to learn a little about me.  You can also read in depth about IVF #1 at Finding My Mom Genes: IVF #1

However, today is a new day.  Although this morning's first follie check did not reveal anything different than last cycle, I know in my soul that it is different this time.

IVF#2, we're going to be friends.  (Please don't make me eat my words.)

Good Morning, 7 AM friends...

(left to right: 3 lowered to 2 vials of Menopur, 225  Gonal-f, and 10 Microdose lupron and 10  Hcg mixed into one syringe)

Here's the breakdown...
On this day during IVF#1 I had 9 follies.  Today was the same.  Yes, EVEN after the microdose Lupron AND menopur AND two thousand dollars worth of acupuncture.  I could go on and on.  But I am really not upset.  Truly.  I am more concerned about quality this time than quantity.

IVF#1 produced only 5 eggs.  All 5 were mature, 4 fertilized, and 3 became blasts.

In my heart, I think these eggs are going to be better quality with these horrific Menopur shots.  My acupuncturist told me yesterday as I was walking out the door, "Don't be upset tomorrow if you don't have many follicles, I promise the eggs in there are great quality."

Here's a quick schedule for the upcoming days.

Saturday, Sunday - keep injecting Lupron, Gonal-f, HCG, and Menopur + all other pills

Monday - 8AM follie scan, 10:50 AM acupuncture, and Ovidrel trigger

Tuesday - 10:10 acupuncture, Mom flies in late afternoon, NO SHOTS

Wednesday - Retrieval and DH's TESE (yuck)

Thursday - religiously take Dulcolax

Friday - begin Lovenox injections

And, yes, I feel the need to say it again.  We have never, ever, ever received one penny from insurance.  Both IVF's and every drop of medicine have been out of pocket.

We're triggering Monday.
I can hardly believe it.
Have a great weekend, ladies.

Yay for 9! Our last IVF was the same way. Everything looked basically the exact same as the first attempt. BUT the eggs were better! That's the most important part!! Lots of prayers for you. Can't believe it's already time to trigger!

Excellent! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Isn't that the horrid part of insurance? We paid out of pocket for all of our procedures as well. Nothing..I mean, NOTHING was covered. It's beyond frustrating.
